Welcome to the
Children's Advocacy Center
of Yakima County
Working together to prevent the further victimization of children.
What is a Children's Advocacy Center?
A Children’s Advocacy Center is a child-focused, facility-based program where representatives from many disciplines meet to discuss and make decisions about investigation, treatment, intervention, and prosecution of child abuse cases.
The multidisciplinary team approach brings together under one umbrella all the professionals and agencies needed to offer comprehensive services:
- Law Enforcement
- Child Protective Services
- Prosecution
- Mental Health Providers
- Medical Practitioners
- Victim Advocacy
They also work together to prevent further victimization of children.
Who are we?
We are a child focused center that coordinates a multidisciplinary process for the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child victims and witnesses of suspected child abuse, neglect and crime
What do we do?
In a child focused setting we provide forensic interviews, facilitate joint investigations, and coordinate access to services such as victim advocacy, medical, and mental health services for child abuse victims and witnesses in Yakima County.
How can I learn more?
We’ve put together some resources for people who are interested in knowing how to recognize the signs of abuse and where to report it.
How can I help?
You can help support us by volunteering your time, or by making a donation to our program or one of the other local child advocacy groups.
Mission Statement:
Through a multidisciplinary team coordination of investigation, prosecution, and therapeutic response, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Yakima County strives to reduce the emotional trauma of child victims and witnesses.
